About Julie
Julie is an avid animal lover and passionate about their care and wellbeing.
Growing up her family included dogs, cats and parakeets. When she moved out on her own she couldn't imagine life without a companion by her side. Julie found Angel at an adoption day, Angel was an American Bulldog Pit Bull puppy with a mind of her own. The first time Julie laid eyes on her she knew it was meant to be. Angel brought laughter, joy, shinanagans into Julie's life while bringing attention to the stigma that pit bulls face.
She started volunteering with Midwest Rescue of Illinois, Inc in 2001. She would walk dogs and transport them to events. After a time she was appointed to the board and started fostering. She continues to make a difference for the animals within Midwest Rescue and in the Chicagoland area.
Julie learned of canine massage therapy when Angel was battling cancer and showing signs of being physically uncomfortable and needing bodywork. Angel enjoyed massage from her very first experience. The comfort and joy it brought Angel opened Julie's eyes to a making a difference for an animal not just as a rescuer but as a way to support their body, mind and spirit. Julie enrolled in the Chicago School of Canine Massage, which offers one of the most comprehensive training programs in the country and graduated in May 2014. Melt Canine Massage is a passion for Julie; she wants all animals to feel the benefits of massage.
Today Julie continues to share her life with her pups (kids as she calls them) Jade and Marci, along with their foster siblings.
